Program Management for Performance Improvement Methodology:


 
Overview
  • Global insurance giant used a sophisticated set of technologies and methodologies to collect cost and time information on particular operational activities, providing a more accurate and lower cost alternative to time and motion studies.
  • Despite success of the technology, management was frustrated by the lack of reporting and of the verification of actual improvements identified by the tool, and by the difficulty in comparing similar operations across regions.
 
Our Approach
  • Spent time with the team reviewing the technology and gaining feedback from previous users.
  • Developed comprehensive program management methodology, focusing on key areas such as standardization of management reports, consistency in activity and process definitions, requirements for management and regional communications, and definition of team roles and responsibilities.
  • Developed an implementation ‘playbook,’ comprising detailed program management guidelines, tools, reporting templates, and training documentation for consistent, repeatable application of the technology globally.
 
Outcome
  • A sophisticated program management structure to utilize for future deployments of the technology.
  • Management access to consistent reports including insights and recommendations, and providing a comparative view across multiple locations.
  • Better management control over local teams, ensuring that they implement the relevant recommendations in a timely manner, thereby capturing the corresponding savings.
