Improving a Business Continuity Planning Program:


 
Overview
  • Leading global insurer with significant exposures in multiple regions and countries was faced with a number of challenges surrounding business continuity planning (BCP).
  • These included: resource constraints and turnover, negative internal audit findings, a distributed global presence, and business priorities that appeared to compete with BCP.
  • As such, there was an immediate need to strengthen the global BCP program
 
Our Approach
  • Performed a detailed review of the existing BCP program and implemented initiatives in several key areas to improve the overall quality of the program.
  • Updated the home office business continuity plan, ensuring global compliance with corporate mandated BCP self assessments, and the development of tracking and quality monitoring frameworks.
 
Outcome
  • Updated home office plan met client objectives and compliance requirements, and better positioned client to effectively respond and recover during a business disruption.
  • Fully completed BCP assessments globally provided visibility into the state of BCP across the enterprise.
  • Additional recommendations for global BCP improvement helped strengthen recovery planning and significantly reduce risks on a global level.
